Unusual Stress Symptoms – And How To Deal With Them

Everybody seems stressed all the time. It’s the digital age, and everybody is constantly on the move, trying to get work done. The word “stress” has become so common that you think nothing of it, even when you yourself are feeling stress symptoms. You just carry on with your life, and hope that the stress will take care of itself.

What you don’t know is that stress can have adverse effects through some very unusual and surprising stress symptoms. When you are stressed emotionally, your body produces chemicals like cortisol, which when produced consistently can affect some of your important bodily systems. A research from Umeå University even said that depression and chronic stress accelerates aging.

Here are some unusual stress symptoms and how you can deal with them effectively

  1. Acne. If you are prone to acne, there is a high probability of pimples flaring up under conditions of emotional stress.

Acne is a result of sebum – an oil that your skin secretes – clogging hair follicles by mixing with dead skin cells. Sebum-producing cells are known to be receptive to stress hormones, and excessive production of the oil can cause acne.

There are a lot of ways to reduce acne. There are natural and home remedies that you can avail easily, while there are medical remedies that are prescribed by doctors too.

  1. Muscle Aches. When stressed, your body tends to produce hormones that may increase muscle tension and sensitivity to pain. This is mostly exclusive to working women and women who lead demanding lives.

This tension and pain can occur in your face and back muscles. You can alleviate this pain by stretching and moving at regular intervals. Just move. Maybe walk around for 10 minutes or so, or do some simple stretches.

  1. Abdominal Cramps and Bowel Problems. Stress can also cause abdominal cramps and stomach aches in women and even constipation or diarrhea.

Again, exercise regularly. Eat healthy foods regularly and drink about 8 glasses of water every day to smoothen your bowel movement.

  1. Rashes. Stress can also affect your immune system, and you can suffer from rashes and skin infections that you wouldn’t otherwise suffer from.

On the other hand, your skin can become super-sensitive and your pre-existing skin conditions, if any, may act up suddenly.

There are a lot of over-the-counter moisturizers and ointments that can help you heal.

Anxiety and stress may seem simple, but they can be roots to a larger tree of stress symptoms and disorders. If you are having anxiety issues that interfere with your life, consult a doctor that can recommend effective therapy or medication.
